The Big Question
Joel proposed on a cold night in December, he led me outside to the front of our house and had spelled 'will you marry me' in Christmas lights. It was just him and I at our house, but following the proposal we went to a holiday party at my parents house along with making multiple phone calls to friends and family.
Shop 'Til You Drop
I am very particular about everything I wear and tend to trend to classic designs! I had gone to many shops here in Omaha and everyone kept trying to put me in lace which I think is beautiful; but it wasn't the look I was going for.
I had found the AJ Rebecca online and took it to Jocelyn at Ready or Knot Bridal here in Omaha when I went to try on dresses. She didn't have the dress to try on but the Augusta Jones trunk show was approximately 2 weeks away. She was wonderful and was able to borrow the dress in for me to try. I fell in love with it; it was beautiful!
I was absolutely in love with the classic look and paired it with a long veil for the ceremony which I swapped for a fun belt for the reception!
The Perfect Day
The day was emotional but so wonderful. The ladies and I got ready in my hotel suite and the guys got ready in another suite. My hair and makeup stylist came to the hotel to help get us ready. Everything was so exciting but also calm.
Joel and I did a first look in a park near the hotel. Seeing each other for the first time was emotional for both of us. We did photos together with our wedding party then headed to the church to get married!
Following the ceremony the wedding party and spouses went to a couple of bars to relax before going to the reception to celebrate with the rest of our family and friends.
It is important to remember that the wedding is one day, it is the marriage that will be life long. Our goal as a couple was to try to live in the moment of the day and to remember everything we were feeling.
