Courtney & Adam

The Big Question

Adam got down on one knee in front of a huge crowd at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago, in the middle of the ice skating rink, just after they cleared everyone off the ice. Our immediate family and close friends were hiding up by "the bean" watching every single moment!

It was so romantic and special, especially since I was a figure skater growing up. He also gave it an extra special touch by having my sister ask the workers to play "Best Friend" by Tim McGraw over the loud speaker!

Shop 'Til You Drop

I live in the Indianapolis area, and actually lived about a block away from an adorable little wedding dress boutique. I had driven and walked by it for years, and knew that when the time came, I wanted to make an appointment there. So when I was ready to go dress shopping with my Mom, Mother-in-Law, and Sister, that was the first stop of our day.

As fate had it, it was the only appointment I needed to make! I found my dress there, and ended up cancelling my other two appointments that followed. I tried on around 7 or 8 dresses, but kept putting the Elise dress back on. They paired it with a big, sparkly belt and a long cathedral veil, and I was sold! It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen or worn in my life!

The Perfect Day

Our wedding day could not have been more perfect! Many people thought we were taking a risk with having an all outdoor wedding. But we lucked out, and it was the most beautiful September day!

Our wedding took place at a gorgeous vineyard in southwest Michigan. Willow Harbor Vineyards and its scenery completely transport you and make you feel as if you're at a Tuscan vineyard on the coast of Italy. Our day was filled with love, family, dancing, and delicious food and drinks! It was the wedding I've always dreamed of, and my husband and I look back on that day with such fond memories.

Wise Words

This is yours and your significant other's wedding day, and no one else's. If you don't want to follow typical wedding traditions, then don't. If you want to have food trucks instead of a formal sit down meal, go for it. There are no "rules" anymore.

This is your special day and it only happens once in a lifetime. Get creative and make your wedding unique to your relationship and the life you share together. I guarantee your guests will appreciate your genuine and unusual spin on things. And if they don't, oh well! This is one of those times that it's okay to be selfish :)
