Heather & Eric

The Big Question

Eric proposed in  Boulder, Utah - where his family has a ranch. He took me on a four wheeler ride and took me up a big hill (the same hill that we took our first picture together at) and there was a big heart made of rocks and a little alter made of tree branches. He took me into the middle of the rock hearts and proposed there.

Shop 'Til You Drop

I had signed up for a few appointments at various dress stores in Utah. I had heard amazing things about Alta Moda and that happened to be my first stop. My Augusta Jones dress was the 5th one that I tried on and I knew it was the one (although I still went to the other fittings to make sure).

I went back that exact same night and made my final decision! The shape of the dress and subtle sparkle was exactly how I had pictured my dress to be - and the quality beat out all of the other dresses and stores.

The Perfect Day

The months up to my wedding were STRESSFUL, but the day of the wedding was better than I ever could have imagined. I was my own wedding planner (although I have amazingly talented in-laws who helped extensively with florals and pictures).

We did a smaller, destination wedding on La Jolla Cove in San Diego, California - we live in Utah. We wanted it to be our family and close friends and have it be more of an intimate setting. With it being destination we decided to do everything in that one day. We had our ceremony, followed by pictures, then dinner and toasts/speeches, followed by the wedding cake cutting (I loved my cake!), and then dancing and hanging out/throwing the bouquet. It was perfect and flowed so well. My goal was to have a beachy, casual chic wedding and that's exactly what we got!

Wise Words

Don't feel pressured to do what other people expect for weddings! Do what fits your vibe (and your budget) and that shows your couple personality. We splurged on tables and florals and the things that mattered most to us - while we ended up spending less on food and such (but got food that we wanted and knew we would like.. we served the most amazing tacos, churros, and Mexican sodas). We are NOT the formal, 5 course meal type of food people. We love good food that is quick and so yummy and fresh. The food fit perfectly with our beach vibe and we made sure that the decor and food truck stands/serving trays were all neutral and fit in with our wedding decor. The day was a dream and the location was to die for. I could not have imagined a better day.
