Christina & Scott

The Big Question

Scott proposed over a romantic picnic in our favourite park! The week leading up to the proposal, he surprised me with delivering notes and flowers and told me we'd be going to dinner on Saturday night. He picked me up Saturday and told me to close my eyes so I wouldn't see where we were going.

When we arrived at the park, Scott walked me over to a blanket with a picnic basket on it and before I knew it he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I tearfully said, "yes!", and then we celebrated with champagne and enjoyed our picnic as the sun was setting.

Shop 'Til You Drop

About 2 weeks after the engagement, my mom came to visit me in Nashville for my birthday. Since Scott and I wanted to have a short engagement and wedding dresses take a while to come in, we made appointments at six different dress shops. The Bride Room was the only place with dresses that felt like something I'd want to wear- there were three dresses I really liked so my mom and I decided to sleep on it before committing to a dress.

The next day we went back and tried them on again, and I liked one dress most of all! My mom loved it too but didn't want me to rush into a decision. I decided to sleep on it one more night, and the next day I went back and tried the gown on for the third time- when I left the bridal shop I was giddy at having ordered the gown!

The Perfect Day

Our wedding day was beautiful- we had clouds and rain that made everything look romantic and feel peaceful. I was so happy when I got to see Scott for our first look. The day had been going well, but as with any wedding there was a lot of frenzied activity in the bridal suite and I was looking forward to seeing my handsome groom! It was comforting to see him (looking dapper in his tuxedo), give him a hug, and talk to him before all of our friends and family arrived. Looking back it was the only real 'alone time' we had together the entire day.

Our wedding ceremony was the most special and anticipated moment. Walking down the aisle with my dad, seeing Scott at the altar, holding his hands, and looking into his eyes as we said our "I do's" was magical and something I'll never forget.

Wise Words

I would tell future brides to enjoy their engagement - taking dance lessons, tasting cake and wedding food, and listening to music together to put together song choices were such special times spent with my fiancé.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the details and wedding planning, but just trust that your wedding day will arrive and it will be beautiful simply because you're committing to love someone for the rest of your life and getting to celebrate with friends and family!
