Jackie & Matt

The Big Question

Back in 2010, Matt was an analyst at Morgan Stanley, seated next to a new intern Christine (my Best Friend and Bridesmaid), who constantly talked about her best friend, Jackie (that’s me). Fast forward 3 years, Christine was still talking me up, and along with the help of another co-worker Scott (Groomsman), they put their match-making scheme in place and orchestrated a night out for Matt and I to finally meet. After a botched Happy Hour Karaoke rendition to the song "Love Shack" sparks began to fly and there started the path to love and marriage.

On October 2nd of 2015 Matt and I had just spent the week moving into our first apartment together in NYC. We had decided to take the weekend off from unpacking and go visit Christine (our match-maker) who lived in Boston. Matt kept texting me all day asking when I was getting home so we could leave for our trip. Still under the impression I was trying to catch a train to Boston, I rushed home after work and to my surprise I opened the door to our apartment decked out in candles and roses with Matt down on one knee. I of course said “YES,” and after we had a few minutes to ourselves to take it all in, the surprises only continued as Matt had planned for my family to be waiting at a spot nearby ready to celebrate!  It truly was the perfect proposal in our favorite city where we met and fell in love

Shop 'Til You Drop

With living in NYC, I always anticipated getting my dress in the city would lead to lots of opportunities for city girls days with all the fittings etc, so I knew I really wanted to get my dress there.  As I hoped, my mom and sister came for a day of shopping and Kleinfelds was our first appointment.

The Augusta Jones 'Jessie' dress ended up being the second one I tried on and I knew I loved it! I tried on a few more just to be sure, but in the end the 'Jessie' dress was just perfect (and so fittingly is also my sister’s name) so it just felt right. A couple weeks after my appointment I was reading about how Augusta Jones had been accommodating to so many brides with customizing details of their dresses. I had always dreamed of having a long train to my dress with buttons down the back, and with those little customizations I got my dream dress!

The Perfect Day

With getting married at the Jersey Shore at the end of April we had been holding our breath and anxiously checking weather reports for a while leading up to the day hoping for warm weather, and when the day arrived we couldn’t have imagined it any more perfect! It was a warm, sunny, 80 degree April day on the water just how we pictured it!

Getting ready in the most beautiful bridal suite at Mallard Island with my bridesmaids, Maid of Honor and Mom in the morning was the perfect quality time with my favourite girls before walking down the aisle, and my first look with my Dad was definitely emotional but such a beautiful moment I will always cherish. Of course, the most anticipated moment of the day was my first look with Matt. I snuck behind him in the boat house chapel and tapped him on the shoulder and all the smiles and tears flooded in from there! It was so nice to have some time together with Matt to walk around the grounds before the ceremony and just take in our whole journey of getting to this moment.

A childhood friend of mine married us and it was just the most personal ceremony that perfectly captured us as a couple!  Our band couldn’t have been better and was definitely successful at keeping everyone moving on the dance floor to add to a fun night celebrating with all of our family and friends.  Overall, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day, filled with any more love as a way for Matt and I to start our lives together!

Wise Words

My advice to fellow brides would be to savour every second and most importantly just be present and happy in the moment marrying the love of your life! For all the time spent on planning all the little details leading up to the day, the most heartfelt compliment I got was that the smiles never left Matt and my faces and that we truly looked happy and in love the whole night, which when you take a step back and put the details aside, is all you could ever hope for as the lasting memory of your wedding day!
