Grace & Scott

The Big Question

On a Sunday in the middle of October, Scott asked if I wanted to take our dog on a hike. I love the peak of the fall season, when all of the leaves are bright red, orange and gold. The fall foliage in Birmingham was at this point, so I was especially excited to get outside.

We went to Ruffner Mountain, a meaningful place to both of us, and hiked to the overlook that oversees downtown. I was checking out the cityscape, and when I turned back around, Scott was on bended knee.

Shop 'Til You Drop

I searched, and searched for the perfect dress! I found elements I liked in a lot dresses, but not everything all in one. When I went to Carriage House Weddings, my consultant explained how customizable Augusta Jones dresses were.

I found two separate dress styles I loved: the shape of the Jessie, a fitted A-line, and the bodice of the Skyler. When combined, both dresses checked all the boxes. Even more, I was also able to select a lace pattern. At the end of the process, I had my own custom gown that was everything I had envisioned!

The Perfect Day

The day was a whirlwind, but in the best way! It was so exciting to see our day come together thanks to our family, friends, all of the planning and our wonderful vendors.

I was most looking forward to our ceremony. Scott and I decided to get married outside on the terrace at The Club. It overlooks the city, and you can see Ruffner Mountain, where Scott proposed. The forecast predicted an 80 percent chance of rain all week, but thankfully it was a beautiful, sunny day!

The venue was also extra special because Scott's parents also had their wedding reception there. The ceremony was everything we hoped for, and the reception was an absolute blast.

Wise Words

Take a few minutes to step away and soak in the day with your groom. Whether it's a short, private dinner, or walking around to see the small touches that make your wedding unique. The day goes by so quickly, and those moments are most treasured.
